Oral Hygiene with Braces

The presence of braces on your teeth makes you much more succeptible to cavities, gum disease and especially "orthodontic white spots". These unsightly spots (which can also be brown, yellow or gray) cannot usually be removed and essentially can become permanent "scars" that severely compromise an otherwise great smile. So when you have braces, it's very important to brush very well several times per day - especially just before bed. It's also important to reduce the amount of sugar in your diet and especially to mininize how long that sugar stays on your teeth. Flossing regularly, using fluoride and seeing your dentist for regular cleanings can also help prevent damage to your teeth and gums. Please watch our video and/or click below to download the pdf for more detailed instructions. If you follow these instructions well, you'll be certain to avoid damage and finish with a great smile!
